Who we are
Chief Bud Corporation is an Illinois Benefit Corporation building AI-powered tools to help U.S. veterans navigate housing benefits. We are registered for federal contracting purposes and operate with a public-benefit mandate: veteran access is permanently free. Revenue comes through government contracts, institutional partnerships, and philanthropic support — never from the veterans we serve.
Who we serve
Chief Bud is built for every U.S. veteran and their family — across all branches, all eras, and all housing situations. First-time homebuyers. Veterans in transitional housing. Families navigating a sudden crisis. Retirees planning their next chapter. If you served, Chief Bud has something for you.
How it began
Chief Bud was founded by Chad DeWitt King, an Army veteran with a master's degree in Human-Computer Interaction from DePaul University. Chad built Chief Bud after navigating housing instability and a fragmented VA benefits system himself.
The experience made the problem concrete: millions of veterans are entitled to housing support they never access, not because the programs don't exist, but because the system is fragmented and difficult to navigate. Chief Bud is his answer. Traction to date: $25,000 grand prize at the 2025 TechRise Military Veterans Pitch Competition, completion of DePaul's Coleman Center Social Impact Incubator, and selection for the IVMF Military Founders Lab 26C Startup Founders Track.
